what is csa?
CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture.” Inspired by models in Japan and France, small and medium-sized farms across America offer arrangements for people in their local communities to prepay for a weekly share of the farm’s harvest. CSA partners the farmer with the CSA members, as they share the risks but also the bounties of the each growing season together. Through CSA membership, consumers can learn about seasonal eating, be introduced to new vegetables and ways of cooking them, get to know their farmer, and build community amongst like-minded consumers. Different farms run their CSAs differently. Find out how CSA works at Dirt Rich Farm on the Share Sizes page.
